We examined a number of different locations and properties.

 

At the beginning of 2022, we heard about of a property for sale in Tahiche: 3 houses, each with two separate units, registered as apartments, studios and workshops. The ensemble, surrounded by an artistically designed outdoor area, built on the same lava flow on which César Manrique Foundation is located just 300 m away.

The internationally renowned Bosnian artist Stipo Pranyko worked here for 15 years. In addition to his paintings, drawings and installations, it is here, that he created his only work of architecture: the Casas Volcán which one might argue is more of a sculpture than a private recidence. This unique artistic complex fascinated us so much, that we chose it as our first location for a project on Lanzarote, despite the disadvantages.

 

In August 2022, we received a lease from the owners and seven of us moved in.

We founded a Spanish cooperative, VIVA - vivir en comunidad sociedad cooperativa canaria and purchased the property in May 2024.
